1. Introduction
Welcome to NewsLearner. We prioritize your privacy through a "local-first" and "anonymous" approach. We do not collect your name, email, or phone number.
2. Anonymous Authentication
NewsLearner uses Anonymous Sign-In
- When you open the app, we create a random, anonymous ID for you.
- We do not know who you are. We have no access to your personal identity.
- Purpose: This ID is used solely to verify your "Pro" subscription status with our payment provider (RevenueCat) and to manage technical limits (e.g., daily AI usage credits).
3. Where We Store Your Data
a. Learning Data (Local)
All your saved words, reading history, and game progress are stored ONLY on your device. We do not transmit your vocabulary lists or reading habits to our servers.
b. Server Data (Minimal)
We rely on Supabase only for:
- Anonymous Session: Keeping you logged in without a password.
- Usage Credits: Counting how many free/pro features you used today covering AI costs.
4. Data Loss Warning
Because your account is anonymous and your data is local:
- If you delete the app, you lose your data.
- If you switch phones, you cannot transfer your vocabulary (Android to iOS or vice versa).
- We cannot recover your account because we do not know your email.
5. Third-Party Services
- RevenueCat: Handles subscriptions. It links your purchase to your anonymous ID.
- Google AdMob: Displays ads (for free users). AdMob may use device identifiers to show relevant ads.
- OpenAI: Processes text for translation/simplification but does not store your content training data.
6. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. In fact, we do not collect personal information from anyone.
